  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 22. Any person who has owned or operated an underground storage tank as defined pursuant to section 2 of P.L.1986, c.102 (C. 58:10A-22) who has not registered that tank pursuant to the provisions of P.L.1986, c.102 (C. 58:10A-21 et seq.), shall not be subject to a civil penalty for the failure to register that underground storage tank if the person, within one year of the effective date of this act, registers the tank pursuant to P.L.1986, c.102. The department may require that person to pay any registration fees that would have been paid had the underground storage tank been registered in accordance with law.
