Inspectors may stop and search without warrant any vehicle, and may search without warrant any container which the inspector suspects contains unstamped meat, and if any is found it shall be taken by the inspector. Unless proof is submitted within twenty-four hours after such seizure which satisfies the inspector that the person from whom the meat was taken is the lawful owner thereof, such meat shall be forfeited to the state and sold or disposed of by the agency.

  • Inspector: includes chief veterinary meat inspector, veterinary meat inspector, lay meat inspector, livestock officer or any other employee appointed by the associate director, with the approval of the director, to carry out the purposes of this chapter, the livestock laws and rules adopted thereunder.   • Meat: means the edible part of the muscle of cattle, sheep, swine, goats or equines which is skeletal or which is found in the tongue, in the diaphragm, in the heart or in the esophagus, with or without the accompanying and overlying fat, and the portions of bone, skin, sinew, nerve and blood vessels which normally accompany the muscle tissue and which are not separated from it in the process of dressing.
