  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     The Department has the power to sell gravel, sand, earth, or other material from any State of Illinois owned lands or waters under the jurisdiction of the Department at a fair market price. The proceeds from the sales shall be deposited into the Wildlife and Fish Fund in the State treasury.
