  • Power of attorney: A written instrument which authorizes one person to act as another's agent or attorney. The power of attorney may be for a definite, specific act, or it may be general in nature. The terms of the written power of attorney may specify when it will expire. If not, the power of attorney usually expires when the person granting it dies. Source: OCC
     Every owner or operator of any oil or gas well may appoint a person to act as his Attorney in fact to execute applications for permits to drill oil or gas wells, or any wells in connection therewith, and to execute bonds and any other papers relative to such permits. Such owner or operator shall file with the Department a properly executed power of attorney on a form acceptable to the Department. Every person so appointing an Attorney in fact shall, within five days after the termination of any such appointment, notify the Department in writing of such termination.
