Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 225 ILCS 725/28

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
     If any section, paragraph, sentence or phrase of this Act shall be declared unconstitutional, or void for any reason by any court of final jurisdiction, such fact shall not in any manner invalidate or affect any other section, paragraph, sentence or phrase of this Act, but the same shall continue in full force and effect.
