  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
     Except as otherwise provided in Section 28a, before the Chicago Transit Board may enter into or amend any employment contract in excess of $100,000, the Chicago Transit Board must submit that contract or amendment to the Regional Transportation Authority Board for review for a period of 14 days. After 14 days, the contract shall be considered reviewed. This Section applies only to contracts entered into or amended on or after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 98th General Assembly.
