Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 70 ILCS 3610/7

  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     It shall be the duty of the Board of Trustees of every District to cause an annual audit of its accounts to be made by a certified public accountant of Illinois. The audit shall be completed, filed with the District within 4 months after the close of each fiscal year of the District. Certified copies of annual audits shall likewise be filed with the Secretary of State and with the governing body or bodies which created the District.
