Sec. 4. (a) Beginning July 1, 2026, a chairperson shall be elected by the council members at the first meeting after July 1 every even-numbered year. If a vacancy occurs in the position of a member who is the chairperson, the council shall elect a member to serve the remainder of the chairperson’s term at the next meeting of the council.
(c) Before August 1, 2023, the governor shall appoint the chairperson of the council.
(b) The chairperson may not be a state employee.
Terms Used In Indiana Code 16-46-17-4
- council: refers to the rare disease advisory council established by section 2 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 16-46-17-1
- Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
- Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
(d) The chairperson must meet one (1) of the qualifications of a member under section 5(b) of this chapter. This subsection expires July 1, 2026.
