As used in this chapter unless the context otherwise requires:
 1. “Commission” means the natural resource commission.

  • Department: means the department of natural resources. See Iowa Code 484B.1
  • Department: means the department of natural resources. See Iowa Code 462A.2
  • Game birds: means pen-reared birds of the order galliformes and pen-reared mallard ducks. See Iowa Code 484B.1
  • Hunting preserve: means property and facilities either privately owned or leased for holding, rearing, releasing, or processing captive-raised game for the purpose of hunting, for a fee, over an extended season. See Iowa Code 484B.1
  • Livestock: means the same as defined in section 717. See Iowa Code 484B.1
  • Pen-reared: means the propagation and holding of game birds and game animals whose origins are from captive populations. See Iowa Code 484B.1
  • property: includes personal and real property. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Season: means hunting preserve season. See Iowa Code 484B.1

 4. “Elk” means an animal belonging to the cervidae family and classified as part of the canadensis species of the cervus genus.
 5. “Game birds” means pen-reared birds of the order galliformes and pen-reared mallard ducks.
 6. “Hunting preserve” means property and facilities either privately owned or leased for holding, rearing, releasing, or processing captive-raised game for the purpose of hunting, for a fee, over an extended season.
 7. “Livestock” means the same as defined in section 717.1.
 8. “Pen-reared” means the propagation and holding of game birds and game animals whose origins are from captive populations.
 9. “Season” means hunting preserve season.
 10. “Ungulate” means hoofed nondomesticated mammal other than livestock.
