Terms Used In Iowa Code 543B.2

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
543B.2 Individual licenses necessary.
A partnership, association, corporation, professional corporation, or professional limited
liability company shall not be granted a license, unless every member or officer of the partnership, association, corporation, professional corporation, or professional limited liability company who actively participates in the brokerage business of the partnership, association, corporation, professional corporation, or professional limited liability company holds a license as a real estate broker or salesperson, and unless every employee who acts as a salesperson for the partnership, association, corporation, professional corporation, or professional limited liability company holds a license as a real estate broker or salesperson. At least one member or officer of each partnership, association, corporation, professional corporation, or professional limited liability company shall be a real estate broker.
