Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 66-1508

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

(a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b), the assessments provided for under the provisions of this act shall not apply to motor carriers, nor shall they apply to public utilities or common carriers which are under the jurisdiction of the commission solely in connection with the administration of the oil proration or oil and gas conservation acts, the expenditures in connection with such regulations being otherwise provided for by fees and assessments levied under other acts against such public utilities or common carriers.

(b) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a), motor carriers shall be subject to the assessment provided for in Kan. Stat. Ann. § 66-1502, and amendments thereto.
