Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 34:851.33

  • Motorboat: means any vessel equipped with or propelled by any type of machinery whether or not such machinery is the principal source of propulsion but shall not include a vessel which has a valid marine document issued by the Bureau of Customs of the United States Government or any federal agency successor thereto, unless the vessel is a recreational use vessel. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 34:851.2
  • Person: means an individual, partnership, firm, corporation, association, or other entity. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 34:851.2

A.  No person shall knowingly or intentionally possess an outboard motor or motorboat from which the manufacturer’s supplied identification plates bearing the serial number or hull identification number have been removed or altered.

B.  An outboard motor or motorboat described in Subsection A shall be considered contraband and shall be disposed of as provided for in La. Rev. Stat. 15:41(B).

C.  Whoever violates this Section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars and cost of court.
