Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 37:2664

  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Person: means any individual, partnership, corporation, or other legal entity, except that only an individual shall be eligible for license or be issued a license under this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 37:2651
  • Practice of speech-language pathology: means providing, or offering to provide, to individuals or groups of individuals who have or are suspected of having disorders of communication, including speech, voice, language, or cognitive processes and disorders of oral-pharyngeal function, including dysphagia, any service in speech-language pathology including prevention, identification, evaluation, interpretation, counseling, consultation, habilitation, rehabilitation, instruction, supervision, and research.             No person shall:

            (1) Sell, barter, or offer to sell or barter a license or registration.

            (2) Purchase or procure by barter a license or registration with intent to use it as evidence of the holder’s qualifications in the practice of speech-language pathology or audiology.

            (3) Alter a license or registration materially.

            (4) Use or attempt to use a license or registration which has been purchased, fraudulently obtained, counterfeited, or materially altered.

            (5) Willfully make a false, material statement in an application for a license or registration or for renewal of a license or registration.
