Terms Used In Michigan Laws 338.825

  • Department: means the Michigan department of labor and economic growth. See Michigan Laws 338.822
  • Professional investigator: means a person, other than an insurance adjuster who is on salary and employed by an insurance company, who for a fee, reward, or other consideration engages in the investigation business. See Michigan Laws 338.822
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
  (1) The department, upon application and after making a determination that the applicant is qualified, shall issue the applicant a license to conduct business as a professional investigator for a period of 3 years from date of issuance.
  (2) Upon the issuance of a license under this act to conduct business as a professional investigator, the applicant is not required to obtain any other license from any municipality or political subdivision of this state.
