  • Answer: The formal written statement by a defendant responding to a civil complaint and setting forth the grounds for defense.
  • Indictment: means 1 or more of the following:
  (i) An indictment. See Michigan Laws 761.1
  • Indictment: The formal charge issued by a grand jury stating that there is enough evidence that the defendant committed the crime to justify having a trial; it is used primarily for felonies.
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l
  •    Every person indicted for any offense, who shall have been arrested upon process issued upon such indictment or who shall have duly entered into recognizance to appear and answer to such indictment shall, on demand, be entitled to a copy of the indictment and of all endorsements thereon.
