87-1-103. Fines, bonds, and penalties. All fines, bonds, and penalties mentioned in this title may be collected by civil action in the name of the state in any court of competent jurisdiction. All fines, bonds, and costs shall be collected without stay of execution.

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
