A statute of limitations running on a cause of action belonging to a decedent, that was not barred as of the date of death, does not bar the cause of action sooner than 1 year after the death. A cause of action that, but for this section, would be barred less than 1 year after the death of the decedent is barred after 1 year unless the running of the statute is tolled under other law.
