Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 482:72

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
  • Department: means the department of environmental services. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 482:2
A municipality shall expend such sums as may be necessary to satisfy any judgment of the department pursuant to N.H. Rev. Stat. § 482:69 and any appeal from such judgment and such sums may be taken from moneys (a) raised from the sale of bonds, sufficient authority for the issuance of which shall be the affirmative vote passed at the meeting referred to in N.H. Rev. Stat. § 482:65; (b) in the hands of the town treasurer not appropriated or held for a purpose not inconsistent with such payment; (c) or voted the purpose at any regular or special town meeting or special meeting of a town council.
