  • Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
  • month: shall mean a calendar month, and the word "year" a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed; and the word "year" shall be equivalent to the expression "year of our Lord. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:8
Within 30 days after such agreement or compact shall have become effective as provided in N.H. Rev. Stat. § 484:2, the governor shall, with advice and consent of the council, appoint 3 members of the Connecticut River Valley Flood Control Commission, one of whom shall serve until May 1, 1952, and one of whom shall serve until May 1, 1953, and one of whom shall serve until May 1, 1954. In the month of April, 1952, and each year thereafter, the governor, by and with the advice and consent of the council, shall appoint one member of the said commission, whose term of office shall be 3 years from and after May 1 of the year in which he is appointed.
