  • Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
  • month: shall mean a calendar month, and the word "year" a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed; and the word "year" shall be equivalent to the expression "year of our Lord. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:8
Within 30 days after the aforesaid agreement or compact shall have become effective as provided in N.H. Rev. Stat. § 484:8, the governor shall, with the advice and consent of the council, appoint 3 members of the Merrimack River Valley Flood Control Commission, one of whom shall serve until March 1, 1958, one of whom shall serve until March 1, 1959 and one of whom shall serve until March 1, 1960. In the month of February 1958, and each year thereafter, the governor, by and with the advice and consent of the council, shall appoint one member of the said commission, whose term of office shall be 3 years from and after March 1 of the year in which he is appointed.
