Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 26:8-33

  • birth: means the complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of a product of conception, irrespective of the duration of pregnancy, which, after such separation, breathes or shows any other evidence of life such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, whether or not the umbilical cord has been cut or the placenta attached.   • month: means a calendar month, and the word "year" means a calendar year. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
  • registrar: means the local registrar of vital statistics of any district. See New Jersey Statutes 26:8-1
In case the father or mother of the child does not, within one month after the date of birth, receive a notice from the local registrar that the birth of the child has been recorded, as provided in this chapter, the father or mother of the child, in the order named, shall within five days thereafter, report to the local registrar the fact of such birth.
