Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 27:7-49
- Devise: To gift property by will.
- Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
- State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
The department may acquire for the state, by gift, devise, grant, purchase or condemnation for public use, land and water rights in any county of the sixth class, and place thereon structures and buildings and erect or purchase piers, wharves or docks for the landing of boats for the carrying and transportation of freights, vehicles and passengers.
