  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. The Governor and Council of State shall have charge of all the State’s interest in all railroads, canals and other works of internal improvements. The Board of Directors of a State-owned railroad company shall be responsible for managing its affairs and for reporting as set forth in N.C. Gen. Stat. § 124-17 (1925, c. 157, s. 1; 2000-146, s. 2; 2013-360, s. 34.14(a).)
