Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 53C-8-17

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. The Commissioner may enter into cooperative, coordinating, and information sharing agreements with (i) any bank supervisory agency having jurisdiction over an out-of-state bank that operates one or more branches in this State and (ii) any bank supervisory agency of another state in which a bank operates one or more branches with respect to the periodic examination or other supervision of the branches of the out-of-state bank operating in this State or the branches of the bank operating in such other state.
