Terms Used In South Carolina Code 58-15-1650
- department: as used in this article means any subdivision or agency of the State having authority to locate or construct roads or streets. See South Carolina Code 58-15-1610
- railroad: as used in this article shall include all steam railroads and interurban electric railroads of more than twenty miles in length, which are operated as common carriers, but shall not include street railroads operated in whole or in part within the limits of any incorporated city or town or private logging roads. The railroad company involved may select the material to be used in the construction of the grade separation structure, provided such material shall not be less durable than creosoted timber of a quality at least equal to that required by the standard specifications of the Department of Transportation for its own bridge work.
