  • commission: means the Public Service Commission of South Carolina. See South Carolina Code 58-23-1110
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • corporation: means a corporation, company, association, or joint stock association. See South Carolina Code 58-23-1110
  • improved public highway: means every improved public highway in this State which is or may hereafter be declared to be a part of the state highway system or any county highway system or a street of any city or town. See South Carolina Code 58-23-1110
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • motor carrier: means every corporation or person, their lessees, trustees, or receivers, owning, controlling, operating, or managing any motor propelled vehicle used in transporting persons or property over any improved public highway in this State, whether or not for compensation, as defined by § 58-23-30 and includes, but is not limited to, motor vehicle carriers as defined in § 58-23-10 and private carriers.   • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • person: means an individual, a firm, or a partnership. See South Carolina Code 58-23-1110
  • regulatory staff: means the executive director or the executive director and employees of the Office of Regulatory Staff. See South Carolina Code 58-23-1110
