The department has exclusive jurisdiction over the scales designated in §§ 37-22-1 and 37-22-3. The inspection of the scales may only be made by and under the direction of the department.

- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
