Terms Used In Tennessee Code 37-1-320

  • Habeas corpus: A writ that is usually used to bring a prisoner before the court to determine the legality of his imprisonment. It may also be used to bring a person in custody before the court to give testimony, or to be prosecuted.

Indigency shall be determined, and counsel and court reporters appointed and reimbursed, as now provided for criminal and habeas corpus cases by title 40, chapter 14, parts 2 and 3.
