Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
District: means a watershed district for which organization is proposed or which has been granted under this chapter. See Tennessee Code 69-6-102
(1)(A) The proposed name of the district;(B) Wherever practical the name of the district shall include the name of the principal body of water located in the watershed, such as ” ______________ Watershed District”;(C) The Tennessee soil and water conservation commission is empowered to reject the proposed name where a watershed district previously established has the same or a closely similar name;(2) A description of the boundaries of the area to be included in the district;(3) A statement of the purposes for which the district is to be organized;(4) A statement of the number of persons who shall constitute the temporary board of directors of the district, which shall be not less than five (5) nor more than nine (9), together with the names and addresses of the persons who will constitute the original board of directors, with the term of office of each set forth beside the corresponding name, and with one (1) member designated as acting chair; and(5) A prayer for the organization of the district as a nonprofit corporation.(b) A map showing the boundaries of the district shall be attached to the petition as an exhibit and incorporated in the petition by reference.(c) The petition shall be sworn to by not less than five (5) of the signers.
