Terms Used In Texas Code of Criminal Procedure 45.303

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

Nothing in this subchapter precludes:
(1) a case involving a child from being referred, adjudicated, or disposed of as conduct indicating a need for supervision under Title 3, Family Code; or
(2) a waiver of criminal jurisdiction and transfer of a child’s case as provided by § 51.08, Family Code.
