63A-16-1001.  Definitions.
     As used in this part:

(1)  “Commission” means the State Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice created in Section 63M-7-201.

Terms Used In Utah Code 63A-16-1001

  • Commission: means the State Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice created in Section 63M-7-201. See Utah Code 63A-16-1001
  • Database: means the criminal and juvenile justice database created in this part. See Utah Code 63A-16-1001
  • Division: means the Division of Technology Services created in Section 63A-16-103. See Utah Code 63A-16-1001
  • Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
(2)  “Criminal justice agency” means an agency or institution directly involved in the apprehension, prosecution, and incarceration of an individual involved in criminal activity, including law enforcement, correctional facilities, jails, courts, probation, and parole.

(3)  “Database” means the criminal and juvenile justice database created in this part.

(4)  “Division” means the Division of Technology Services created in Section 63A-16-103.
