Terms Used In Iowa Code 602.9110

  • Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
  • person: means individual, corporation, limited liability company, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership or association, or any other legal entity. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Senior judge: means a person who qualifies as a senior judge under article 9, part 2. See Iowa Code 602.1101
  • State: includes any state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and any territory or possession subject to the legislative authority of the United States. See Iowa Code 633D.2
 An annuity shall not be paid to any person, except a survivor, entitled to receive an annuity under this article while the person is serving as a state officer or employee. However, this section does not prohibit the payment of an annuity to a senior judge while serving as provided in section 602.9206.
