- Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
When a court adjudges a respondent to be a person with a disability and appoints a plenary guardian for that person under this Article pursuant to subsection (c) of Section 11a-12 or enters an order under this Article finding that the respondent should not operate a motor vehicle, the court shall direct the circuit court clerk to notify the Secretary of State‘s Driver Services Department, in a form and manner prescribed by the Secretary of State, and shall forward a copy of the court order to the Secretary of State’s Driver Services Department no later than 7 days after the entry of the order.
