(a) This section applies only to an office with a four-year term.
(b) If at the deadline prescribed by § 143.007 no candidate has filed an application for a place on the ballot for an office, the filing deadline for that office is extended to 5 p.m. of the 57th day before election day.
Terms Used In Texas Election Code 143.008
- General election: means an election, other than a primary election, that regularly recurs at fixed dates. See Texas Election Code 1.005
(c) This section does not apply to an election to be held on the date of the general election for state and county officers.
