Connecticut General Statutes 38a-441 – Notice to insured when life insurance policy paid up
Any insurance company doing the business of life insurance in this state which writes an individual life insurance policy delivered or issued for delivery in this state shall provide notice when such policy is fully paid up. Such notice shall be in writing and shall be sent or delivered by the insurer to the owner of the policy at the last-known address of the owner during the year in which the date such final payment is received by the insurer occurs, or within thirty-one days of such date if later. Each five years thereafter, written notice shall be so sent or delivered to the owner of the policy providing notice of the current status of such policy. The provisions of this section shall not apply to the purchase of a single premium life insurance policy, a universal life insurance policy, or to the purchase of paid-up additions under a participating life insurance policy.

- Insurance: means any agreement to pay a sum of money, provide services or any other thing of value on the happening of a particular event or contingency or to provide indemnity for loss in respect to a specified subject by specified perils in return for a consideration. - insurance company: includes any person or combination of persons doing any kind or form of insurance business other than a fraternal benefit society, and shall include a receiver of any insurer when the context reasonably permits. See Connecticut General Statutes 38a-1
- Life insurance: means insurance on human lives and insurances pertaining to or connected with human life. See Connecticut General Statutes 38a-1
- Policy: means any document, including attached endorsements and riders, purporting to be an enforceable contract, which memorializes in writing some or all of the terms of an insurance contract. See Connecticut General Statutes 38a-1
- State: means any state, district, or territory of the United States. See Connecticut General Statutes 38a-1
