Terms Used In Wisconsin Statutes 60.01
- Acquire: when used in connection with a grant of power to any person, includes the acquisition by purchase, grant, gift or bequest. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01
- Property: includes real and personal property. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01
- Town: may be construed to include cities, villages, wards or districts. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01
(1) A town is a body corporate and politic, with those powers granted by law. A town shall be designated in all actions and proceedings by its name, as “Town of ….”.
(2) A town may:
(a) Sue and be sued.
(b) Acquire and hold real and personal property for public use and convey and dispose of the property.
(c) Enter into contracts necessary for the exercise of its corporate powers.
