  • Attachment: A procedure by which a person's property is seized to pay judgments levied by the court.
  • Writ: A formal written command, issued from the court, requiring the performance of a specific act.

Except as provided in Article 3513, a final judgment must be obtained in an action where a writ of attachment or of sequestration has issued before the property seized can be sold to satisfy the claim.
