Terms Used In Alabama Code 23-1-417

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

Should any portion of this article be declared unconstitutional, void, or invalid by a final decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, this article, in its entirety, shall become null and void as of the date of that final decision of the court.
