Terms Used In Alabama Code 36-15-3

  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
(1) Subject to subsection (b), the salary of the Attorney General of Alabama shall be an amount equal to the salary of an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama. The salary shall be payable in installments as the salaries of other state officers are paid and shall be the full compensation to which the Attorney General is entitled from the state for the performance of his or her official duties.
(2) Commencing upon the next term of office of the Attorney General after October 1, 2021, he or she shall receive a salary in an amount equal to the salary of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama.
(b) The Attorney General’s salary may only increase after the completion of the term for which he or she was appointed or elected, and after completion of any subsequent term elected.
