Terms Used In Alabama Code 37-1-7
- Continuance: Putting off of a hearing ot trial until a later time.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
- Impeachment: (1) The process of calling something into question, as in "impeaching the testimony of a witness." (2) The constitutional process whereby the House of Representatives may "impeach" (accuse of misconduct) high officers of the federal government for trial in the Senate.

- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
The commissioners may be impeached and removed from office by the supreme court for the same causes and in the same manner as other state officers; and any commissioner who shall accept directly or indirectly any gift, gratuity, emolument or employment from any person, firm, corporation, company or association, owning or operating in whole or in part in this state a utility, as defined in this title, during his continuance in office, except a pass for himself or any employee of the commission on official business, shall forfeit his office and may be impeached and removed from office therefor, or for any other cause of impeachment.
