Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 03.40.080

  • brand: means an identification mark burned into the hide of a live animal. See Alaska Statutes 03.40.270
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association, organization, business trust, or society, as well as a natural person. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060

In all actions and proceedings in which the title to animals is an issue, the certified copy provided for in Alaska Stat. § 03.40.070 is prima facie evidence of ownership of the animal by the person whose brand or mark it may be.
