Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 09.45.850

  • action: includes any matter or proceeding in a court, civil or criminal. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • Pleadings: Written statements of the parties in a civil case of their positions. In the federal courts, the principal pleadings are the complaint and the answer.

In an action of the type authorized in Alaska Stat. § 09.45.80009.45.880, judgment may not be given by default, but the court must require proof of the facts alleged in the complaint and other pleadings.
