(a) The Alaska Aerospace Corporation is created as a public corporation of the state. The corporation is a body corporate and politic located for administrative purposes within the Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs and affiliated with the University of Alaska but with a separate and independent legal existence.

Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 26.27.010

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
(b) The corporation may not be terminated as long as it has bonds, notes, or other obligations outstanding. If the corporation is terminated, it shall be terminated in a manner that permits the University of Alaska and Poker Flat Research Range to continue their research and educational missions uninterrupted.
