Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 39.30.050

  • Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060

The department shall collect from each participating political subdivision its respective pro rata share of the expenses incurred in the administration of Alaska Stat. § 39.30.01039.30.080. The amounts collected from participating political subdivisions, together with money appropriated by the state for covering the state’s share of administrative costs, shall be deposited in an FICA administration fund and are not allocable to any other purpose. Expenditures from the FICA administration fund shall be included in the governor’s budget for each fiscal year and are subject to appropriation by the legislature. At the time of preparation of the governor’s annual budget the department shall review the FICA administration fund and adjust the rate of assessment on political subdivisions so as to prevent the accumulation of more money than is needed to administer Alaska Stat. § 39.30.01039.30.080.
