A. The fiscal year of the department begins on July 1 of each year and ends the following June 30.
Terms Used In Arizona Laws 28-6997
- Budget: means the annual highway program prepared by the department. See Arizona Laws 28-6901
- Department: means the department of transportation acting directly or through its duly authorized officers and agents. See Arizona Laws 28-101
- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
B. The department shall operate strictly under a budget provided and authorized by the legislature.
