  • Annexing district: means a water conservation district which has been petitioned by a petitioning district to be annexed thereto. See California Water Code 75940
  • Board: as used in this chapter , means the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians of the State of California. See California Education Code 51764
  • Bonds: means indebtedness and securities of any kind or class, including bonds, notes, bond anticipation notes, and commercial paper. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 226
  • Commission: means the Metropolitan Transportation Commission created by Title 7. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 226
  • Day: means a calendar day unless otherwise specifically provided. See California Education Code 48925
  • earned surplus: whenever used in this chapter means the excess of revenues from the inception of operation of the electric system over related expenses thereof, plus accumulated price-level depreciation, plus or minus any additional amounts credited to or charged against customers' equity employed in the business of the electric system, as determined in accordance with the then current accounting practice of the district. See California Water Code 75935
  • Expulsion: means removal of a pupil from (1) the immediate supervision and control, or (2) the general supervision, of school personnel, as those terms are used in Section 46300. See California Education Code 48925
  • Foreign country: means a government other than any of the following:

    California Government Code 12527.5

  • Foreign-country judgment: means a judgment of a court of a foreign country. See California Government Code 12527.5
  • Indian child custody proceeding: means a "child custody proceeding" within the meaning of Section 1903 of the Indian Child Welfare Act, including a proceeding for temporary or long-term foster care or guardianship placement, termination of parental rights, preadoptive placement after termination of parental rights, or adoptive placement. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 224.1
  • individualized instruction based upon performance criteria: means an educational method in which (a) aptitudes, interests, motivations, and other characteristics of each student play a major role in the selection of educational objectives and the determination of the sequence of study and choice of materials and procedures. See California Education Code 48932
  • Instrument: as used in this chapter , means a written paper signed by a person or persons transferring the title to, or giving a lien on real property, or giving a right to a debt or duty. See California Government Code 27279
  • Jail: as used in this chapter , means a locked facility administered by a law enforcement or governmental agency, the purpose of which is to detain adults who have been charged with violations of criminal law and are pending trial, or to hold convicted adult criminal offenders sentenced for less than one year. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 207.1
  • Judgment creditor: means the person or persons who can bring an action to enforce a sister state judgment. See California Government Code 12517
  • Judgment debtor: means the person or persons against whom an action to enforce a sister state judgment can be brought. See California Government Code 12517
  • legislative body: means board of trustees, city council, or other governing body of a city. See California Government Code 14856
  • Lockup: as used in this chapter , means any locked room or secure enclosure under the control of a sheriff or other peace officer that is primarily for the temporary confinement of adults upon arrest. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 207.1
  • Members of the personnel of record: as used in this chapter means every person listed in the records of the registrar as then associated with a licensee. See California Government Code 27237
  • mobilehome: means a mobilehome, as defined in Sections 18008 and 18211 of the Health and Safety Code, to which one of the following applies:

  • motor vehicle: includes every self-propelled vehicle operated or suitable for operation on the highway, except a vehicle used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 272
  • Person: as used in this chapter includes an individual, a firm, partnership, corporation, limited liability company, association or other organization, or any combination thereof. See California Government Code 27237
  • Petitioning district: means a water conservation district which proposes to petition or which has petitioned another water conservation district to annex its territory to that other water conservation district. See California Water Code 75940
  • postponement: refers to mobilehome loans established prior to February 20, 2009. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 212

  • psychiatric technician: means any person who, for compensation or personal profit, implements procedures and techniques that involve understanding of cause and effect and that are used in the care, treatment, and rehabilitation of mentally ill or emotionally disturbed persons, or persons with intellectual disabilities, and who has one or more of the following:

  • punishment: means the imposition of sanctions. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 202
  • Pupil: includes a pupil's parent or guardian or legal counsel. See California Education Code 48925
  • qualifier: as used in this chapter , means a person who qualifies for a license pursuant to Section 7068. See California Government Code 27237
  • Region: means the region comprising the commission's jurisdiction, prescribed by Section 66502 of the Government Code. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 226
  • related services: means transportation, and such developmental, corrective, and other supportive services (including speech-language pathology and audiology services, interpreting services, psychological services, physical and occupational therapy, recreation, including therapeutic recreation, social work services, school nurse services designed to enable an individual with exceptional needs to receive a free appropriate public education as described in the individualized education program of the child, counseling services, including rehabilitation counseling, orientation, and mobility services, and medical services, except that such medical services shall be for diagnostic and evaluation purposes only) as may be required to assist an individual with exceptional needs to benefit from special education, and includes the early identification and assessment of disabling conditions in children.   • Schoolday: means a day upon which the schools of the district are in session or weekdays during the summer recess. See California Education Code 48925
  • Sister state judgment: means that part of any judgment, decree, or order of a court of a state of the United States, other than California, which requires the payment of money, but does not include a support order as defined in Section 155 of the Family Code. See California Government Code 12517
  • social worker: shall include the juvenile probation officer or the person who is both the juvenile probation officer and the adult probation officer, and any social worker in a county welfare department or any social worker in a California Indian tribe or any out-of-state Indian tribe that has reservation land that extends into the state that has authority, pursuant to an agreement with the department concerning child welfare services or foster care payments under the Aid to Families with Dependent Children program when supervising dependent children of the juvenile court pursuant to Section 272 by order of the court under Section 300, and the term "department of probation" shall mean the department of juvenile probation or the department wherein the services of juvenile and adult probation are both performed.   • state agency: includes every state office, officer, department, division, bureau, board, and commission. See California Government Code 11000
  • Suspension: means removal of a pupil from ongoing instruction for adjustment purposes. See California Education Code 48925
