  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Board: means the Department of Veterans Affairs. See California Military and Veterans Code 996.987
  • Bond: means veterans bond, a state general obligation bond issued pursuant to this article adopting the provisions of the State General Obligation Bond Law. See California Military and Veterans Code 996.987
  • City: includes city and county and "incorporated town" but does not include "unincorporated town" or "village. See California Public Utilities Code 19
  • Committee: means the Veterans' Finance Committee of 1943, created by Section 991. See California Military and Veterans Code 996.987
  • County: includes city and county. See California Public Utilities Code 18
  • department: means the Department of Veterans Affairs. See California Military and Veterans Code 690
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Fund: means the Veterans Farm and Home Building Fund of 1943 created by Section 988. See California Military and Veterans Code 996.987
  • Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity.
  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Public Utilities Code 17
