- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
- City: includes city and county and "incorporated town" but does not include "unincorporated town" or "village. See California Public Utilities Code 19
- Committee: means the Veterans' Home Finance Committee created pursuant to subdivision (a) of Section 1108. See California Military and Veterans Code 1102
- County: includes city and county. See California Public Utilities Code 18
- Fund: means the Veterans' Home Fund created pursuant to Section 1103. See California Military and Veterans Code 1102
- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
