• Airport and aviation purposes: means expenditures of a capital improvement nature, including the repair or replacement of a capital improvement, and expenditures for compatible land use planning in the area surrounding an airport, for any of the following purposes:

• Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
• City: includes city and county and "incorporated town" but does not include "unincorporated town" or "village. See California Public Utilities Code 19
• Commission: means the Public Utilities Commission created by §. See California Public Utilities Code 20
• Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
• Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
• Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
• county: includes "city and county". See California Penal Code 7
• County: includes city and county. See California Public Utilities Code 18
• Fee simple: Absolute title to property with no limitations or restrictions regarding the person who may inherit it.
• fund: shall be deemed to refer to the Aeronautics Account in the State Transportation Fund. See California Public Utilities Code 21680
• General aviation: means all aviation except air carrier and military aviation. See California Public Utilities Code 21681
• knowingly: import s only a knowledge that the facts exist which bring the act or omission within the provisions of this code. See California Penal Code 7
• Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). ^{Source: OCC}
• mandatory supervision: shall mean the portion of a defendant's sentenced term during which time he or she is supervised by the county probation officer pursuant to subparagraph (B) of paragraph (5) of subdivision (h) of Section 1170. See California Penal Code 19.9
• Matching funds: means money that is provided by the public entity and does not consist of funds previously received from state or federal agencies or public entity funds previously used to match federal or state funds. See California Public Utilities Code 21681
• month: means a calendar month, unless otherwise expressed. See California Penal Code 7
• Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
• Operation and maintenance: means expenditures for wages or salaries, utilities, service vehicles, and all other noncapital expenditures that are included in insurance, professional services, supplies, construction equipment, upkeep and landscaping, and other items of expenditure designated as "operation and maintenance" in rules and regulations adopted by the department. See California Public Utilities Code 21681
• person: includes a corporation as well as a natural person. See California Penal Code 7
• Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
• Public agency: means the various agencies of the State of California and the federal government. See California Public Utilities Code 21681
• Public entity: means any city, county, airport district, airport authority, port district, port authority, public district, public authority, political subdivision, airport land use commission, community services district, or public corporation and the University of California. See California Public Utilities Code 21681
• state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" may include the district and territories. See California Penal Code 7
• State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Public Utilities Code 17
• Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
• will: includes codicil. See California Penal Code 7
