Before any person is examined by a regional center pursuant to § 1370.1 of the Penal Code, the court ordering such medical examination shall transmit to the regional center a copy of the orders made pursuant to proceedings conducted under Sections 1368 and 1369 of the Penal Code. The purpose of the mental examination shall be to determine if developmental disability is the primary diagnosis.

Terms Used In California Welfare and Institutions Code 4654
- Developmental disability: means a disability that originates before an individual attains 18 years of age, continues, or can be expected to continue, indefinitely, and constitutes a substantial disability for that individual. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 4512
- Regional center: means a regional center as that term is used in this chapter. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 4639.80
